Harpus Maximus

My love of music started at a very young age.  I was in my first band at age 11; from that point I was hooked. Over the years I have played Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, Drums, Violin, Mandolin & Harp and have been influenced by everything I've heard, both good & bad.  Some of my favorite Bands/Artists include: Kansas, Rush, Cheap Trick, Kiss, Styx, Jane's Addiction, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Chris Cornell, Tom Waits, Neil Young Tori Amos & Anni DeFranco.

My affliction with the harp began when a friend of mine introduced me to a classic comedy team known as the Marx Brothers. In one episode Harpo destroyed a piano and played the insides like a harp,  After seeing that episode I began to search for old pianos that I could take apart. My mother, catching wind of the story, decided to help me construct a harp.  After hearing Tori Amos play "Smells Like Teen Spirit" on the piano i knew the possibilities were endless.  That's when I decided to amplify my harp and add effects like reverb, distortion and flanger to satiate my new addiction.

Now when I am not writing songs or recording new material I can be found at one of the NE Indiana hot spots playing my originals, classic rock tunes and love songs on the harp or guitar in my own deranged way.

Past and Present Bands include:

Magic Company
My neighbors and i formed a band when I was 11.  We played a lot of music from Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick and Rush.  At one point we even painted all of our equipment white in homage to the glitter gods, Angel!  Eric Scott, our bassist did an enthusiastic rendition of Ted Nugent's "Wango Tango".  The band went on to record a single entitled "Elaine".

Firstborn
This band was formed during high school we recorded a concept album entitled "Fortissimo Dyne".  (which means a very loud unit of force)  on an old reel to reel 4-track recorder.  This album displayed the correlation between a thunderstorm and a rock show.  At the peak of the albums success  an article was written up in "Rhythm Magazine".

Chapter 9
I formed this band with some friends in the South Bend, Indiana area.  We recorded an album entitled "foreword" which includes the songs "Ordinary Day", "Bigot" and "Leave a Message".  To this day these songs remain some of my favorite works.

Billy Goat Gruff
This band started as a side project...I recorded and marketed a CD with friends under the fictitious band name "Billy Goat Gruff".  As the CD "Where's That Confounded Bridge" gained popularity with radio airplay a band was formed!  With the added material of the new band members a second  CD "Powerseed" was also released.

Tankhead
Tankhead was a hard rock cover band that I joined in the 90's.  It is a high energy heavy rock band that allows my friends and I to cut loose and rock out.  You can still catch a show now and then as we still get together to have fun and perform our rock favorites.   Check the Dates page for upcoming Tankhead gigs.
